January 6 2009 Meeting

Ξ January 7th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Uncategorized |

To give you an update on our monthly meeting… here’s a brief rundown of the minutes from the meeting.

A “Calendar of Events” has been developed for the upcoming riding season. You may view our calendar here:

http://www.wvrk3.org/?page_id=39 (this link is also available on the left column of this page)

If you plan a ride and want WVRK to attend, please forward me the info and I will put it up on the Calendar. I’ve allowed access to the Calendar to Jimmy and Dana so they too may add events because as I get older, my memory seems to be failing me :-)

There are now three (3) “Mandatory Rides”. Out of these three rides, only one of these is actually “Mandatory”. Let me explain: To allow folks with difficult schedules the opportunity to be present for one of these rides, we have set aside three dates over the course of the riding season. It is mandatory that all Active and/or Charter Members make at least one of these rides. Not all three, just one. If a member cannot make any of these rides, there will be a fine of $30.00 levied by the President on that member. Social members are exempt from these rides but welcome to attend. To further accommodate our members, we have chosen three rides that leave on different times of the day and set each ride for Sunday, as most, if not all of our members, have stated that “Sunday rides are best”. Also, two of the rides go “south” and one to the “west” to Huntington, which should accommodate Sterling, who lives in Putnam County.

Not mentioned in the meeting, because I simply forgot: I would like to reaffirm that our meeting is to be held on the first Tuesday of the month and until such time that the meeting place is changed, we will continue to have the meeting at the Danville Vol Fire Department. Because the meeting falls on the same day as the monthly Danville City Council Meeting, we held this last meeting at 7:30 rather than 7pm. As Chief of my department, I try to attend each City Council meeting. If there’s no objections, I will continue to schedule the meetings of WVRK at 7:30pm. If however, folks have an issue with this, we can schedule the meeting at 6 or 6:30pm.

Secretary’s Note:

There’s three very important dates on the upcoming Calendar.

May 16 2009 – Southern WV Bike Show, sponsored by WVRK#3. This event calls for everyone to get involved. I’ll handle the scheduling and set everything up, you guys help work the event.

May 21 2008, Run for the Wall will be in Charleston that morning. I am trying to getting something special setup for a friend of mine that works with disabled Vets in the Charleston area. I won’t go into more detail, because it’s suppose to be a surprise, but if I get it setup, I will be riding to this event.

On June 13, the annual Paul Ritchie Ride should be taking place. I hope that everyone in WVRK3 will be able to attend.

On or about October 14 of last year and I would suppose it will be near that same date this year, is the Fallen Firefighters Memorial. This past year, we were suppose to present a Wreath at the Ceremony and participate otherwise. Completely my fault, I didn’t realize the event was on that date and didn’t realize until I was already at camp in Summers County that afternoon. This year, I WILL BE THERE and I hope some of you will attend as well.

As always, if you have any questions, comments or complaints, send me an email.

Respectfully,

John “Phathead” Holstein
